Ah, there should be a subsection for this like with the other games, but seeing as how I don't see one, I'll make a thread for it here.

So I had a question about the game: I'm aware of 'clear times' being an element, but are there different modes of play?
What I mean is, is your time always being measured? Or is this just part of a separate 'time attack' mode of play?
I can just picture playthroughs attempting to get through as fast as possible, smashing into things and getting blown all over the place until you get really skilled.

Oh yeah I think we can open a new section for this game later.

To answer your question, there's just one play mode but you can play it in two different ways: exploring and collecting crystals or beating the time.

Crystals will help you to buy things from the store, including power ups. Which then help you to actually beat the stages faster.

There's only one leaderboard, which is a global high score ranking. Your time and health bonus for each stage are converted into a score and all scores (from all levels) are then combined to a global high score. Whenever this score improves, the game uploads it to OpenFeint/Game Center.

Oh, cool! Thanks for the info. I was hoping there would be an exploration element to it like it said, cause that world just looks awesome, even though I'm supposed to be trying to find a way home in the game.

Additionally, are there things like bosses? It just occured to me to wonder if the three ships are equipped with any kind of defensive systems. Or are they just exploration or scientific, undefended vessels?

It has a small exploration element but it's limited as the levels are relatively small. We didn't want to make too huge levels for the handheld devices, I think most people will prefer levels that they can finish in a minute or so.

On the other hand, if we are porting Cyklus to PC, you can probably expect larger levels.

No boss battles for now but we thought about that and maybe will add boss battles as post content.

Awesome stuff. I'll definitely vouch for a PC port and would grab it if you guys did it.
I'll be looking forward to the post-content after the base game is released!
And finally - sorry for the bombardment, but about the story: is there an 'ending segment'? I won't ask for spoilers, but I assume that since the ships are trying to get home, they eventually might - or maybe not. ;)

I know you are a story lover but there's really not much in this game, it's left for your imagination. :)

Gaming wise I think the planned PC release could rock, yeah. I also had fun testing the smartphone/tablet release, especially recommend to play it on a tablet and with headphones connected. It's a great chill for the time it lasts...
