As for the Power Gunner Challenge:
Equalize your weapons.
For each power up extra you see, collect it for another weapon (do not try to equalize all three weapons! Only use two!).
Start with weapon 1. Then for the next power up, switch to weapon 2. Large power up extras are for whichever weapon may be lower (even marginally) than the other. In other words, try to balance and distribute power ups among two weapons; they should both have roughly the same amount of power.
When one weapon is at MAX power, only collect power up extras for the other weapon (keep in mind that collecting power up extras not only adds power to your current weapon, but also provides a small boost to another weapon as well, so it's not the end of the world if you mess up a few times).
It took me three tries to clear this one, and I barely managed it while fighting Grubenriese! Extending boss fights and chaining (try not to lose any chain energy!) like the others said does work. Also try to hit enemies that spawn during boss fights (one or two drop power up extras while fighting Grubenriese).
