Coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox digitally on July 2nd, physical editions now in the works
Hong Kong – June 12, 2025 – Independent developer and publisher Eastasiasoft Limited announced today that pixel art survival horror Dead of Darkness will release worldwide for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store for Windows on July 2, 2025.
Dead of Darkness is a top-down retro horror-themed adventure with a cinematic narrative told from the perspectives of two playable protagonists, Miles and Olivia, each with their own motivations for investigating the mysteries of Velvet Island. Featuring 25 spoken roles, the multi-layered story in Dead of Darkness is conveyed with full voice acting and HD character portraits, earning critical acclaim from reviewers of the original Steam version both for the performances of its voiceover cast and tough-but-fair survival gameplay. The game currently holds a 90% “Very Positive” score on aggregated reviews.
Dead of Darkness is originally developed by Retrofiction Games and will be published worldwide on all major consoles by Eastasiasoft Limited. The game will include text language support for English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese with voiceovers in English. Digital pricing is set at US$15.99/€15.99, and for a limited time, a 20% launch discount will be available for select regions and platforms. About Dead of Darkness
In 1985 England, private investigator Miles Windham follows a lead on the mysterious death of his daughter to Velvet Island. But once he arrives on the island, he soon realizes that the residents are behaving strangely. In fact, there is a growing hostility towards the investigator that feels as though it’s becoming stronger by the minute. It doesn't take long for the situation to escalate, and Miles finds himself in a struggle for his own survival.
Dead of Darkness is a 2D survival horror action-adventure presented in a mix of old-school pixel art and HD character illustrations. Velvet Island comes to life in grotesque detail as Miles and newfound ally Olivia search Graham Memorial mental hospital and its surrounding facilities. Explore the island in top-down style, carefully manage ammunition, find key items and interact with dozens of unique and memorable characters, all professionally voiced by an international cast.
