We are pleased to announce that top-down action-adventure Trigger Witch will soon arrive on consoles! In this worldwide partnership with Rainbite, Eastasiasoft Limited will publish Trigger Witch for release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in Summer 2021.
Recalling the look and intuitive gameplay of 16-bit action-adventure classics, Trigger Witch puts an ultra-violent spin on cute and colorful pixel art. Players will explore diverse terrain and dark dungeons, meet strange and endearing characters, and upgrade firearms imbued with magical powers. There are even some special sections of the game inspired by arcade shoot’em ups, with Colette taking to the skies on a broom and blasting enemies out of the air!
Trigger Witch is a stylized 2D twin-stick action game from the creators of Reverie, set in an odd open world where magic is outdated and firearms are the new way of life. Players assume the role of Colette, a prospective graduate from the Stock, an academy for Witchcraft and Triggery. After a mysterious man invades her realm, events are set in motion that turn Colette’s life upside-down, casting her as the sole heroine with enough firepower to restore peace.
While it shares its genre and visual style with Rainbite’s previous work, Trigger Witch aims to deliver a grander narrative and more dynamic gameplay, made evident by multiple award nominations at the recent New Zealand Game Awards, where Trigger Witch was recognized for excellence in design, accessibility, narrative and overall production. This latest project reflects many of the principles for which Rainbite has earned its reputation, seamlessly blending unique conceptual design with familiar classic presentation and style.
With its compelling and original dialogue, puzzling environments, a dynamic soundtrack, twin-stick shooter mechanics and a vast array of enemies to blow back to their rightful plane of existence, Trigger Witch is a tale that will undoubtedly grip retro gamers from start to bloody finish.
In addition to release on digital storefronts, physical editions will also be available for preorder through online retail partner Playasia. Further details on preorder dates, platforms and Limited Edition contents will be shared at a later date.
