There are actually 2 versions of Smashing the Battle in existence. The original Smashing the Battle has been available on PC, consoles and mobile for a couple years, where it gained popularity as an addictive 3D beat 'em up with attractive character designs. The original stars playable heroines Sarah O'Connell and the unlockable Mary Lucy, with a story set in the year 2085. Ghost Soul, on the other hand, is a brand new sequel in 2021 and has thus far only been available for select consoles and release territories. It stars 2 new playable characters named Amano Elle and Arena Mikhailova (designed by Valkyrie Drive artist Mana Kakkowarai) and is set a year after the original events in 2086.
As a considerable bonus, Ghost Soul also includes the complete story from the original, along with all characters, stages, outfits and gallery unlockables to double the content in a single definitive package. This is the version we're releasing physically.
While Ghost Soul is currently available from publisher Platinum Rocket on PS4 in the west, it has not yet been confirmed for Nintendo Switch outside of Japan/Asia. Fortunately, our physical editions are region free and fully support English, effectively removing any uncertainty in finding the most complete version available for your console of choice. Also worth noting, content is the same between PS4 and Nintendo Switch. Neither version is censored, and performance is nearly identical.
When playing Smashing the Battle Ghost Soul, it is possible to access both story prologues from the title menu. Once these brief intros are complete, the first character for each story arc will be available for immediate use, Sarah O'Connell for 2085 stages and Amano Elle for 2086 stages respectively. Clearing all stages with Sarah O'Connell will unlock Mary Lucy, while clearing the sequel stages with Amano Elle will unlock Arena Mikhailova. Each of these heroines features distinctly different playstyles.
As a quick overview, total content for Smashing the Battle Ghost Soul includes the following:
Smashing the Battle Ghost Soul physical Limited Editions will include the game, manual, soundtrack CD and numbered certificate in a collector's box. It can be preordered here and is expected to ship in November 2021.
"It is with great pride that we have been able to work with publisher Platinum Rocket and developer Studio HG to offer the most complete and definitive version of Smashing the Battle Ghost Soul for multiple consoles. This is an extremely fun and addictive experience that no fan of hack-and-slash action games or 3D beat 'em ups should miss!"
