Today we are excited to announce that side-scrolling shoot’em up Schildmaid MX will be coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in 2025. The game will also receive physical release for Nintendo Switch, with pre-orders opening later this week.
As exhibited at Tokyo Game Show in September 2024, Schildmaid MX is a retro shmup inspired by genre classics, combining nostalgic pixel art presentation with innovative shield mechanics that put an intense new spin on the bullet hell action. Players must strategically run into projectiles to power their starfighter’s special weaponry and turn their enemies’ firepower back against them, requiring quick thinking and clever juggling of defense versus offense. Industry veterans had a chance to play the game at Tokyo Game Show and praised Schildmaid MX for its presentation, unique gameplay mechanics and overall intelligent design.
Schildmaid MX is originally developed by HitP Studio in close cooperation with Eastasiasoft Limited. The game supports multiple languages including English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Portuguese. Physical pre-orders for Nintendo Switch will open with online retail partner Playasia this Thursday, July 3rd at 11:00pm Hong Kong time (11:00am ET / 8:00am PT / 4:00pm UK). Only 1000 Limited Editions will be produced and include the game card, soundtrack CD, Joy-Con sticker set and numbered certificate in a collector’s box. Standard copies will also be available as an open pre-order.
