Today we are thrilled to announce that BIRDCAGE will launch digitally for Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, XBOX One, XBOX Series X|S and XBOX on PC September 23rd! To commemorate this announcement, a new gameplay trailer has been shared on eastasiasoft's official YouTube channel and social media accounts. Physical editions for BIRDCAGE are being prepared for PS5, expected to ship from the eastasiasoft store and affiliated distribution partners in March 2027. Physical pre-orders are currently open.
As exhibited at Tokyo Game Show in 2025, BIRDCAGE is an intense vertical scrolling shoot’em up inspired by genre classics, blending the explosive action of ’90s arcade shooters with modern gameplay and storytelling. Players can strategically switch between spread shots, focused attacks and even melee slashes to take down swarms of enemy ships. Pixel art combines with 3D elements for a gritty, atmospheric style, punctuated by dialogue and event cutscenes to drive the mature, thought-provoking narrative.
Originally developed by POLYGON BIRD in close cooperation with eastasiasoft, BIRDCAGE will be ported for consoles and published worldwide by eastasiasoft. Digital pricing is set at US$14.99/€14.99. For a limited time, a 10% launch discount will be available for select platforms and regions.
