Stupid question: Where's the "save game" option? 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Well, I'm new to Soldner-X but I like that type of shooters (2D style). The game is great etc etc but (call me stupid if you may) I can't find out how to save my progress I always quit the game after finishing off the first boss (okay, I'm not a hardcore gamer so I'm only playing for some minutes and then quit it) and every time I reload the game it starts from the beginning...
Would anyone like to enlighten me?

Hi scorp18,

Welcome to the boards, pilot! Glad to have you here!
Saving in Soldner-X titles is automatic. once you change an option, quit a game, complete a stage/challenge, or die, the game will automatically save. You can verify this by making a playthrough of a stage, then quitting, going to your Awards menu, and seeing that your Enemies Killed and (grrrr) Games Played values have increased.
When you reload most smhups, they start from the beginning. Himmelssturmer takes you from Gota IV (Earth) to the No Dimension (Lurking Evil) in Conceyta - 5 stages. Final Prototype takes you from Sector Zeus (near the edge of the Milky Way I believe) to the Van Krist Labs (I'm pretty sure this is a massive facility in space) - 7 stages.
Since shmup campaigns are so short and you can rack up credits to continue after dying so many times, there's really no need for a save spot feature. Plus, you can jump into any stage you want from the stages you have unlocked after starting a game. Get those secret keys! Keys collected in challenges count as collected, remember that.

I know this helps!

Yep like Delci said you won't be able to save a game that you have started (otherwise it would be easy to cheat on high scores). However all your other progress will save whenever you quit the game. If you don't bother about your score, you can restart from any stage that you previously unlocked.

First of all thanks for your replies, both of you. Yes, I really don't bother about my score or my rank or whatever. All I want is to complete the stages/worlds. And now the stupid question. How can I restart from a stage that I have unlocked previously.
For example, I've collected all 5 keys from the first world but when I push at "start game" I only chose 1player and then it starts from the beginning again. There's no option where I'd like to start from...

scorp18,

What you want to do if you want to play a certain stage is select the Training option. Then you have a list of worlds you've flown in (remember that the only 'unlockable' world in Himmelssturmer is World 5, all the others you simply have to get to by beating the bosses of the previous stages). You can start in the stage you select from the Training list, and play until the end of it - you are unable to progress through the rest of the game from a stage you select from Training mode.
Enemies (plus the boss you kill) shot down in Training mode adds to your Enemies/Bosses killed value in your Awards menu. However, collected Secret Keys do not count as collected in Training mode! In order to get these to count as collected, you have to collect them in a normal playthrough (from 'Start Game', which does start you off from World 1 no matter what...so yes, if you are missing a key in World 4, you have to start over from the beginning in a normal playthrough to have another chance). In Final Prototype, simply select 'Start Game' and you'll be presented with a list of stages you've flown in (after unlocking some of them), and you can continue from that stage onto the rest of the game.

My mistake, I didn't realize this was posted in the "Himmelssturmer" forum. In SX1 there's only the training option for entering any previously unlocked stage, in normal game mode you have to restart from the beginning.

In Soldner-X 2 you can restart from any previously unlocked stage (which also replaces the training mode).
